The Ikebana International Season Opening Luncheon was held on October 25, 2025, at the Women’s Athletic Club of Chicago.

27 members and four guests attended. Members were invited to bring a table centerpiece to be raffled off. Seven members brought table centerpieces and discussed their arrangements and the raffle was very successful. Harrison ‘Red’ Kennicott was our guest speaker. He talked about his life with flowers, which began seventy years ago when he was twelve years old. Since that time, the flower industry has become more and more international, with improvements in transport bringing exotic flowers to Chicago from everywhere. He discussed the difficulty of importing flowers in an era of new and constantly changing tariffs. After he spoke, four demonstrators simultaneously created arrangements, which were also included in the raffle.
