#105Taipei Chapter, Taiwan One day trip and January Monthly Meeting (Flower Design Performance)
The sun was warm and pleasant. The breeze was light and gentle. It was a nice day for our outing on October 16, 2023. We visited an old camphor plant from 1937 in Miaoli County and learned to make essential oil soap by ourselves. The lunch meal with a local special product, the red dates, was delicious. Then we went to the Rixin Island on Mingde Reservoir to observe and find the five kinds of native trees in Taiwan: Acacia confusa, Chinaberry, silk tree, Sapindus mukorossi and Terminalia catappa. After finding them, we enjoyed a cup of aromatic coffee. The final stop of our outing was a tomato farm in Xinzhu County. They grow various tomatoes. And we all liked shopping, too. We got lots of things in our hands on our way home. It was a happy and abundant trip.
We had a flower design performance at the monthly meeting on January 15th, 2024 at National Taiwan University Hospital Convention Center Room 101. It was performed by Mr. Shang-Yang, Wu. The theme was called “western style and eastern appearance”. He said he intended to use the ideas of western design to show you the thoughts of eastern flower arrangement. He totally did twelve works with different materials and containers. Our board members also did their flower arrangements for display to appeal to people.
