Demonstration　 Chapter Meeting　

Our July meeting was very educational, welcoming Takako Routledge – a member of Chadou Urasenke （茶道裏千家）Tankoukai Melbourne, Australia and the Sogetsu of Ikebana Japan. She is an art guide at National Gallery of Victoria, Australia as well. Assisted by Michiko Tsui, also a practitioner of Chadou Urasenke, Takako made an engaging presentation about the essence of Chadou, health benefit of green tea, Chabana 茶花as an important element of Chadou and a lot more. Takako and Michiko showed us a significant spirit of the Way of Tea 茶の湯・茶道―　the Japanese way of hospitality with the concept of ‘Ichigo Ichie ’ 一期一会, once in a lifetime encounter.
One of the Chapter members, Lucy Papas (Sogetsu) shared her knowledge about Chabana and demonstrated Chabana arrangements. Members made their own arrangements inspired by the Way of Tea.
