Chapter Meeting
The topics covered in the meeting were the upcoming exhibits at Tacoma Community College Art Gallery and Point Defiance Park, bus tour on May 28 to the Japanese Gardens in Seattle and June Annual Meeting with Installation of Directors and Auction.
We celebrated two members who turned 90 this year with a delicious cake and cards.
A fun decoupage program was presented and demonstrated by our member, Carolyn Paslay, using seashells and decorative napkins. Members took home colorful decorated seashells.

Exhibition Open to the Public
Our Annual Spring Show featured spring blooms in a lovely gallery space located on the Tacoma Community College campus. This show is advertised in college campus communications and on local community sites. Two hundred visitors viewed the arrangements and gave us positive feedback.
Our chapter and the community college have both benefited from this annual collaboration since 2023.

Demonstration Exhibition Open to the Public
Our chapter was invited to participate in the Tacoma Parks Department Pagoda Festival again this year. This will probably be an annual event for our chapter.
A group of members participated by displaying their beautiful arrangements in the Japanese Pagoda on the park’s grounds. It is a lovely venue for our arrangements.
Instead of a formal demonstration, several members informally created arrangements during the event and were able to interface with the public and explain what ikebana is and tell about their arrangements.
The weather for the weekend was sunny and comfortable and many visitors came to the festival. As a side note, in 2023 15,000 people attended the festival. It was good exposure for our chapter and the art of ikebana to the general public.
