Chapter Meeting

The meeting was held after a long time, after summer holiday.
Although some members are still traveling, the meeting was fresh with the new members.

Free style arrangements were made by the old and new members.
Nicky Lejeune, a professional photographer, gave us a glimpse of photography techniques and show how to snap a perfect photo of the arrangement by taking into consideration the lighting, angle, etc. Her demonstration stimulated the members to become interested.

‘Friendship through flowers’ – this beautiful motto was the beginning of the president’s talk. Then, she welcomed everyone, especially the new members.
Each member introduced herself and talked about her artistic background.
Also, she introduced the new committee. It was nice to see the harmony among the members including the new members, who expressed their happiness to join us.

All of us are looking forward to enjoyable and vibrant future ikebana meetings and events.

Demonstration Sogetsu School/Ohara School/ Kuryu School
As always, the president started the meeting with the I.I. motto, friendship through flowers. She sent our prayer to God and hope through our love and flowers to stop the war everywhere especially in Gaza, Lebanon.

Ms. Amani Alshehi demonstrated and gave a lecture on seasonal Double Nine Festival arrangement. Ms. Amani is the first local instructor of Ohara in Abu Dhabi. The demonstration was very interesting. Three schools’ instructors were joining us. There was a beautiful discussion and comparison and they exchanged information. It gave valuable reflections and inspirations to the members. Then, Japanese delicious lunch was served.

Some members and guests came from Abu Dhabi and it created a new and lively atmosphere to see especially how they are mingling with Dubai members.
It was nice to see that Dubai Chapter is flourishing with a growing number of members from 10-12 to 27.

We will keep working hard to increase more members and more success.
