Demonstration Ohara

On 11th July 2025, Mrs Hema Patkar, first master Ohara from Hyderabad gave a demonstration for us at Hotel Eros. The theme of her demonstration was ‘Mati ke Bol’. Mati or soil is foundation for agriculture and food production, providing nourishment for humans and animals. There is emotional connection between humans and soil, suggesting it can be a source of comfort, inspiration, or even spiritual awakening.
There is a beautiful quote by Aldo Leopold: ”Land is not merely soil, it is a fountain of energy flowing through a circuit of soils, plants and animals”.
Pottery is the art of shaping clay and other ceramic materials into objects which is also a form of Mati. She made beautiful arrangements in ceramic pots made by her. A beautiful, elegant demonstration enjoyed by one and all. It was followed by tea, coffee and snacks.

Workshop
On 26th August 2025 at the Eros hotel, New Delhi, our chapter hosted a special Sogetsu Ikebana Workshop. This workshop was guided by Riji Veena Dass, Director, Sogetsu School Delhi, who introduced the Style-Version 5 of the Sogetsu School. Ably assisted by Saveena Gadhoke and Neena Verma, she demonstrated how traditional aesthetics merge beautifully with contemporary design. This is a variation in which the whole arrangement is divided into two parts within one big container.
The workshop was attended by 30 members and was followed by tea and refreshments.
