Karachi Chapter #204 Pakistan
06 August 2025
Exhibition Chapter Meeting
Ikenobo, Indus Sogetsu, Karachi Sogetsu, and Ohara Study Groups
30 members were dressed in national kameez, shalwar, shawls, or headscarves in green and white, the colours of the national flag. They created an atmosphere of celebration on 6 August 2025, for Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day at the Japan Information and Cultural Centre in Karachi.
Building on the festive atmosphere, the venue showcased beautiful Ikebana arrangements using white flowers and green foliage from all four schools, created by Mrs. Ambreen Allawala, Mrs. Nafisa Tapal, Mrs. Salma Aziz, and Mrs. Yasmeen Jabbar.
To further everyone’s engagement, handheld Pakistani flags were distributed to all the participants. The celebration began with a brief and engaging quiz, for which everyone enthusiastically joined to win small prizes.
After the lively start, Chapter President, Mrs. Tarannum Afroze welcomed the chief guest, Mr. Nakagawa YASUSHI, the Acting Consul General of Japan. She also extended greetings to the participants in her message for Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Mr. Nakagawa’s presence and his message in Urdu, the national language of Pakistan, particularly resonated with the participants. After these heartfelt messages, the chief guest and the president cut the cake, followed by everyone uniting to sing the national anthem and a popular patriotic song. To mark the occasion, the president presented a beautiful Ikebana arrangement, crafted by her using a spathe, to the chief guest.
The gathering concluded with participants’ thoroughly enjoying tea and delicious refreshments, thoughtfully served by Mrs. Seema Irfan and Mrs. Yasmeen Jabbar.
