Demonstration
In the month of September 2025, we had the President of New Delhi Chapter, Neena Verma, a Second Jonin Sanyo of the Sogetsu School demonstrating for us the theme, ” Aya “— The Art of Variation in Ikebana.
Program Chairperson, Syama Balbir, welcomed the Chief guest, Mr. Daisuke Tomita from the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi. Held on 9th September 2025 at the “Lutyens”, Eros Hotel, this program was part of the Indo-Japan month.
Neena Verma mesmerized us with her artistry and skill! With years of dedicated practice, she has cultivated a unique artistic voice that reflects both the timeless principles of Japanese flower arranging and her own sensitivity to form, space, and expression.
Neena’s arrangements beautifully embodied the Sogetsu philosophy that Ikebana can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, by anyone. Her creations show their elegance, harmony, and innovative use of materials, blending tradition with contemporary sensibilities.
Her beautiful demonstration was followed by a hearty high tea enjoyed by one and all.

Demonstration
The October programme of our chapter was a fascinating demonstration by Sensei Takaho Asonuma from the Kuwahara Senkei School of Ikebana. She has been practicing Ikebana since 2006 under the guidance of the deputy headmaster of the Kuwahara Senkei School of Ikebana and received her master’s certificate in 2016. A rheumatologist by profession, Ms. Takaho introduced us to this beautiful school of Ikebana, with elegant arrangements. Ably assisted by Nina, she explained and patiently answered all our queries.
This school of flower arrangement was founded by Kuwahara Fushunken Senkei in the Genroku era (late 17th century). The first generation Senkei was a master of the oldest form of flower arrangement called “Rikka”, but he was also a person of wide knowledge and made free use of the botanical knowledge of his time to produce an eight-volume work called “Rikka Imayo Sugata”. His views on “Kado”, or the Way of Flowers are still appreciated today and have great influence on the world of flowers.
Held on 27th October 2025, at the India International Centre, New Delhi; the informative demonstration was followed by a sumptuous lunch.
