We watched New Year Bunraku performance 2023, “Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura” at a theater on January 20th. Bunraku is a traditional performing art of Kamigata and registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Mr. Tamaka Yoshida, a bunraku main puppeteer, “Omo-zukai”, lectured us about the structure, movement, and tools of bunraku puppets before the performance, and therefore, we were able to enjoy the performance even more.
