Joint induction of officers and new members

Ikebana International Cebu Chapter 145 and Ikenobo Ikebana Society of Cebu 9709 had a joint induction of officers and new members on July 8, 2024 at Don Quijote Function Hall, Casino Español De Cebu.
Consul General Hideaki Matsuo of the Consulate-General of Japan in Cebu inducted the officers and new members. Mrs. Ma. Milagros Dumdum, a Haiku book author, was our guest speaker who spoke about the similarity and connection of Haiku, Japanese poetry, and Ikebana. Haiku is a form of poetry that focuses on the brief moment in time, and a sense of sudden illumination or enlightenment. Like Haiku, Ikebana is a form of art that focuses on the present state of harmony between the flowers and other materials. It was an afternoon full of laughter, insights and establishing friendship through the poetry of flower.
