Demonstration Misho-ryu

On September 18th, Marta Bombín García, member of the Bilbao group within the Spain Castellana chapter, gave a talk and demonstration in the classroom of the Barakaldo Botanical Garden. She spoke about the value of Ikebana as an inner and personal path searching for oneself, through the contemplation of the beauty of flowers and branches. She also prepared a simple arrangement, which served to explain the different elements involved.

The meeting, attended by many people, was very well received and aroused a lot of interest. It was a time of pleasant communication, which we hope brought the spirit of Ikebana a little closer to the attendees.

Exhibition Misho-ryu

On the 18th of last September, some colleagues from the Bilbao group got together to prepare a small Ikebana exhibition in the Botanic Garden of Barakaldo, a city in the north of Spain. We took advantage of the opportunity when the Garden offers participation in its activities. They let us use the classroom they use for various exhibitions or workshops and kindly allowed us to use some branches from the Garden, which gave us the feeling of integrating a little of the Garden itself into the arrangements.

We prepared five arrangements, in which we tried to present different forms: moribana, nageire, suichuka, radial and free style. The event was aimed at people who are unfamiliar with this art, and they were able to observe how containers and flowers can be harmonized in various ways. We hope to have made them feel the beauty of flowers. The exhibition ran until September 20th.
