Hiroshima Chapter # 261 JAPAN

April 25 – 28, 2025
Open to the Public
Over 1,000 ikebana friends gathered at the 13th Ikebana International World Convention in Kyoto. The passion of ikebana inspired us through fabulous demonstrations by the masters, an ikebana exhibition featuring 300 displays, and lively discussions among ikebana friends. It is truly amazing how ikebana can encourage us and bring people together in such a meaningful way.

The Hiroshima Chapter contributed JPY 50,000 to the convention and donated Momiji Manju sweets to the Friendship Room. As the convention was held in Kyoto this year, members from the Western Japan chapters also supported the event as staff. Ms. Mimura and Ms. Aono served as part of the General Affairs team (Western Division), working at the information desk throughout the four days.
Although the weather was a little chilly, inside the venue it was filled with the warmth and enthusiasm of over 1,000 members from around the world, making each day vibrant and memorable. For those who could not join this time, we sincerely hope you will take part in the next convention.

Chapter Meeting
For the June meeting, we held “June Luncheon” at Rijo, a Japanese restaurant at Rihga Royal Hotel, Hiroshima. While enjoying a traditional Japanese meal together, we discussed the program for the coming year as well as the August meeting. It was a warm and pleasant occasion, especially with the members who joined us again after some time. Thank you to everyone who gathered and shared this enjoyable time.

Exhibition Flowers Across the Borders Exhibition 2025
It was a great honor for us to be able to exhibit ikebana in Hiroshima on August 6. A total of 16 beautiful works were displayed in the open space. This year’s exhibition was held at a venue slightly apart from the Central Plaza but closer to the Atomic Bomb Dome, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing. Although the venue was smaller and the number of works fewer than in previous years, many people stopped by to view the arrangements—both on their way to the Peace Memorial Ceremony in the early morning and on their return after the ceremony or after visiting the cenotaph. Visitors were also invited to fold paper cranes as a heartfelt message for peace.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we were once again able to spend a calm and quiet day of prayer. We were further honored by the presence of Ms. Obikane, Acting International President, who kindly visited us from the Headquarters.
We deeply appreciate all the support, encouragement, and heartfelt wishes for a more peaceful world in the future.
