Little things that make us happy
Chapter President, Datin Ong Kid Ching opened her lovely house for our first meeting of the year, titled “Little Things that make us Happy “.
It was an Ikebana workshop using perfume bottles. Because of space constraints, the workshop was limited to 25 participants. Each person was required to bring two or three empty perfume bottles for her own use. However, there were bottles for sale for those who didn’t have any.
Datin Ong demonstrated how to remove an atomiser from a bottle – a painstaking and delicate process using a pair of pliers. After the bottles were washed and filled with water, Datin Ong gave a demonstration using small delicate flowers and ferns to suit the size of the bottles. There was an excitement in the air as everyone eagerly got down to work. The result was a lovely array of miniature arrangements – vibrant flowers in bottles of different shapes, sizes and colors. The morning ended with a sumptuous lunch.
