Johor Bahru Chapter #235 Malaysia
30th September 2025
Workshop
DESCRIPTION OF ABOVE EVENT:
The Japanese art of gift wrapping with fabric, known as “Furoshiki,” is a traditional practice that transforms the act of giving into an artistic expression. This technique uses a square piece of cloth to wrap gifts, emphasizing aesthetics and practicality.
The practice is eco-friendly, promoting sustainability by encouraging the use of reusable fabric instead of disposable wrapping paper. Various tying techniques allow for unique presentations, from simple wraps to intricate knots.
Ikebana International Johor Bahru Chapter 235 had the pleasure in conducting this traditional art form to our members, which was held on 30th September 2025 at L-Table Café, located in Jalan Serampang , Johor Bahru.
We were honored to have our immediate Past President, Datin Kid Ching Ong as our facilitator for this interesting workshop. Thirty members participated in this event and were gifted with a cloth for Furoshiki to take home after the workshop

PETALS & PERFUME
A CROSS-DISCIPLINARY EXPERIENCE ON THE ART OF IKEBANA AND PERFUME.
The presence and form of flowers with the emotions of fragrance guide us into a space where sight and scent intertwine as one artistic expression.
This cross-disciplinary program on 19th November 2025 at Sama Café & Dinning, Melodies Garden, Johor Bahru was faciliated by Ms. Sharon Yap, MBHT Fabulous Certified Perfumery Instructor.
Combining the art of Ikebana in small perfume bottle arrangements with talks on history of perfume and mixing different essential oils with the different base fragrance notes to create your own personal perfume was a wonderful and unique experience that engaged all the senses.
