Sogetsu Demonstration

This Symposium was held to introduce to the public Ikebana, 6th C. Japanese cultural art of floral design. It included a demonstration of several different styles of Ikebana: moribana, nageire and freestyle by Ikebana Sensei (teacher) Leslie Wier. We discussed the history of Ikebana, Ikebana International and our local Sarasota Chapter.

This program was designed to encourage new membership in our chapter to attend future meetings with programs that include various schools of Ikebana.

Sumi-e Society Community Exhibition, Ringling Museum
Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Helene it was not possible to hold our proper business meeting in September. Instead, we kept to our program of visiting a special exhibition, East Asian Brush Painting, local Sumi-e Society Exhibition at the Ringling Museum.
