Zurich Chapter #214, Switzerland
Exhibition
As part of the ‘Long Night of Zurich Museums’, the Museum for Design Zurich planned and organized a Japanese event which showed Ikebana, Bonsai, various exhibits and light projections and offered Japanese food.
Ikebana International Zurich was invited to organize the Ikebana part. We gladly accepted this offer and were happy that many enthusiastic members registered to create an ikebana arrangement. Many thanks to all those who contributed and helped to make this exhibition a success. The museum staff worked for weeks in the large “Tonihalle” to create special structures for the various events. We were provided with a spacious, bright and central space. On Saturday, our members met to create their Ikebana works and fill our beautiful exhibition platform with various arrangements. The result was a large, high-quality exhibition in which the specialties of the different schools and the individuality of each member were beautifully expressed. Visitors flocked to the exhibition as soon as the doors opened at 6pm. By 2 a.m., the organizers had counted around 2000 guests. They were interested visitors who marveled at our ikebana arrangements and asked numerous questions.
Our brochures were willingly taken and hopefully read at home. We look back on a successful and enjoyable event that will stay in our memories.
