#221 Dubai Chapter, UAE Workshop on ‘Peace to Gaza’ and Ikebana Demonstration

We tried to express our feelings about the battlefield through flower arrangements.

Our arrangements were reflecting each lady’s feelings by sending our prayer for peace to Gaza. The theme was ‘Peace for Gaza’.

The meeting was very vibrant and had mingling feelings with a lot of emotions.

Our guest of honor was the Consul-General to Dubai, Mr. Imanishi Jun. We were so lucky as he is also involved in ikebana with high level of Sogetsu teacher certificate. His visit was very supportive and encouraging.

On May 10th, 2024, our meeting was held at the beautiful Origami Restaurant of Festival City mall.

In this meeting we asked the Ohara School and the Koryu School to encourage their students to do ikebana demonstration. The aim of this is to introduce them to our club and to give them the opportunity to practice.

The three ladies from Koryu School each made a beautiful arrangement. Although they were nervous, they were happy enjoying ikebana and did a great job with a big support from their teacher, Miss Sonne San.

After the demonstration we had a delicious Japanese lunch. During the lunch we had a meaningful discussion with all the participants including the teachers about how to improve the I.I. Dubai Chapter and how to spread the Japanese culture and Ikebana art more in Dubai. Our target and challenge are how to attract the young generation into ikebana. We are looking for a good future for Ikebana in Dubai.
