Demonstration

On September 13th, the Kobe Chapter’s first regular meeting of the term was held in grand style at the Kobe Bay Sheraton Hotel.

We had the honor of inviting Ms. Kosen Naruse, the fourth Iemoto of Chiko-ryu to give us a demonstration. She has supported us since the chapter’s founding. A hallmark of the Chiko-ryu style of Ikebana is the use of decorations such as dolls, fruits, handicrafts and sand, placed alongside the ikebana works creating a captivating world. Particularly, sand is chosen according to the color, texture, and size that best match the features of each Ikebana work and the atmosphere of each vase.

In this demonstration five featured works were created. Dolls, animals, musical instruments and sand were arranged with the Ikebana works. Flowers and objects created a harmonious landscape. We were delighted to welcome many guests, who enjoyed a delicious meal while appreciating the beauty of autumn Ikebana.
