Montreal Chapter #155, Canada
Chapter Meeting with Demonstrations by three Ikebana Schools, open to the public
It was our first monthly meeting of the term 2024-2025.
Three teachers of different schools (Koryu Shoutoukai, Ohara and Sogetsu) showed demonstrations with the theme of Chrysanthemums. It is very interesting to see how teachers express their creativity with the same material using different techniques of each school. It was a beautiful, amazing, and stimulating experience for members, deepening their understanding of Japanese traditional art and its flexible artistic beauty.
Mrs. Uchikawa, Honorary President of Montreal Chapter, Mr. Uchikawa, Consul General and Mr. Ishikawa, Vice-Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal attended the meeting. They appreciated three beautiful arrangements and the meaningful activity of Ikebana International Montreal Chapter to develop Japanese traditional art in Montreal. The tea service that followed these demonstrations helped the attendees talk together.
Members and honorable guests enjoyed this meeting. It was a nice cultural exchange between Quebec, Canada and Japan.
