Special Event – Shinobukai Memorial for Deceased Members
This is the first time our chapter has hosted a Shinokukai to honor our deceased members and senseis who contributed so much to our education and enjoyment of ikebana. Some members also honored family and friends who were important in their lives. Many of those in attendance had not participated in a Shinobukai before, but it was well-received by the i.i.members.
This celebration gave strength and meaning to our motto “Friendship Through Flowers”.

Seika with Pussy Willows Workshop
Demonstration Workshop Chapter Meeting
Hiroko Mihara gave a wonderful demonstration and workshop in her school Enshu-ryu for Seika design. Enshu-ryu was a new school for many of our members to experience. We enjoyed learning how to bend and curve our pussy willow branches.

We also held a “White Elephant” sale of mostly used items. It was an opportunity for some of our new and old members to purchase containers, kenzans and other interesting items at a low cost.

March 21-23, 2025
This event was a collaboration between Tacoma-Olympia Chapter #147 and Seattle Chapter #19. The exhibit celebrated the resonance between two artistic traditions: art work in glass and ikebana. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by The Honorable Makoto Iori, Consul General of Japan in Seattle, and his wife, Mrs. Yuko Iyori, along with the Executive Director of the Museum of Glass, Ms. Debbie Lenk, the President of Chapter 19, Machiko Faught, and the President of Chapter #147, Vicky Czaplewski.
The exhibit displayed 44 ikebana arrangements, including five memorial arrangements. We also provided eight demonstrations by eight different instructors.
