Exhibition Open to the Public Ikebana International Fair 2024

The 60th anniversary Ikebana International Fair 2024 was held at Royal Park Hotel in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, on December 10, 2024. Honorary President of Ikebana International, H.I.H. Princess Takamado was unable to attend due to the period of mourning for the passing of former Honorary President, H.I.H. Princess Mikasa. Mrs. Yoshiko Ishiba, the spouse of Prime Minister of Japan, Mrs. Yuko Hayashi, the spouse of Chief Cabinet Secretary, 40 ambassadors and their spouses, Iemotos of 30 Ikebana schools participated in the opening ceremony with the Fair Chairperson, Mme. Thai Thu Hong, the spouse of the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
37 countries and regions offered various goods for the sale by the embassy booths. A part of the proceeds will be donated to those who were affected by the natural disasters in Japan.

Demonstration Open to the Public Vice Headmaster of koryu Katabamikai
In October, we had ikebana Demonstration by TFC Members in the hall of the Embassy of Vietnam.

After the opening greeting by Mme. Thai Thu Hong, Ambassadress of Vietnam, Mr. Rikou Otsuka of Vice Headmaster of koryu Katabamikai, gave a demonstration under the theme of “Decorate Embassy with Autumn Flower”. Beginning with a work using autumn flowers, a combination of chrysanthemums and Japanese spindle tree, an iron vase with dry materials, and a mixed arrangement of autumn flowers were arranged.

The demonstration concluded with a large space composed of vines in the center of the stage, decorated with plants and original objects by Mr. Rikou Otsuka, who conveyed the charm of Ikebana, smiling happily throughout the demonstration.
