For the first time since 2019, our chapter was able to hold a show at the Chicago Botanic Garden, live, in person, and open to the garden visitors. The show took place over two days, Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12, 2022. The chapter members set up more than fifty arrangements on Friday. The participants included practitioners of Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu School.
To celebrate Ikebana Day, our chapter added a free Ikebana for Kids Workshop during the show which was held Saturday from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. In addition to the workshop, there were demonstrations from Ikenobo, Ohara School and Sogetsu School. Four Ohara teachers cooperated to create a Rimpa arrangement. On Sunday, the Chicago Consul-General Hiroshi Tajima and his staff visited the show. The Consulate-General’s office publicized the show in their Facebook page.
