Detroit Chapter #85
On October 7th, 8th and 9th 2022, our chapter partnered with the Cranbrook House and Gardens in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan for a fundraising exhibition. There were more than 30 Ikebana arrangements displayed throughout the magnificent rooms of Cranbrook House and tours of the Japanese Gardens. The Chapter’s Senseis demonstrated Ikebana arrangements representing Ichiyo, Ikenobo and Sogetsu schools on both Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th.
Members and guests attended a special Friday evening ticketed event. Guests included the Consul General of Japan, Mr. Yusuke Shindo and his wife, Mrs. Seiko Shindo. Everyone enjoyed appetizers, wine and a traditional Japanese Koto performance while viewing the beautiful exhibition of Ikebana arrangements made by our chapter.
The event was a huge success and well received by the local community. Our chapter was excited to share many different styles of Ikebana and bring appreciation for Japanese culture.
