Hiroshima Chapter # 261

We held an ikebana workshop for students from overseas at I-House Hiroshima on January 8th as one of the events of “HOT JAPAN”. About 16 students enjoyed ikebana as Japanese traditional culture.

Ms. Sumiko Inoue, Hiroshima Chapter President took part in the New Year Gathering 2023 held by I.I. Headquarters and gave a beautiful flower arrangement piece on behalf of Hiroshima Chapter to celebrate the new year.

Also, January Monthly Meeting was held on Sunday, January 29th at Hiroshima City Machizukuri Shimin Kouryu Plaza. The workshop was held on the theme, Arranging “Rohdea japonica”, by our chapter members of three different ikebana schools: Ms. Sadako Kondo from Ikenobo, Ms. Naoho Aono from Saga-goryu and Ms. Yoriko Mimura from Kan-en-ryu. They demonstrated their school’s traditional style of arranging ways using ”Rohdea japonica”. All attendants enjoyed different styles of Rhodea ikebana and learned that the most of them have been arranged symbolizing our prayers for prosperity of our descendants as auspicious plant. It was a fruitful time for us to get together and welcome the new year for the first time in three years after the Covid-19 pandemic.
