New York Chapter #7

On December 8th, 2021, our chapter conducted our return to in-person Holiday Workshop. We were excited to conduct the first in 40+ years II workshop for all schools of Ikebana. There were twenty-five members along with our honored guest, Mme. Yukiko Yamanouchi, wife of the Consul General of Japan in New York. The workshop was held at the Japanese American Association (JAA). To conduct a successful workshop, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines were followed.
The program began with a mini-Ginza Bazaar that was quite successful, followed by delicious bento lunch, and then the workshop. The main material used at the workshop was fresh kiwi vines coming from the garden of Hazue-Tamura-Stein, our Program Chair. Hazue demonstrated the ease of use with fresh kiwi vines; twisting, wiring, pealing and painted. The group created beautiful Ikebana arrangements showing the talents of all schools of ikebana (Ohara, Ikenobo, Sogetsu and Ichiyo), coming together in one workshop.
