New York Chapter #7, USA

Ikebana International New York Chapter proudly presented Professor Manabu Noda as the demonstrator of its 2023 Opening Program in collaboration with the New York Botanical Garden. For the last two years, we have had our opening programs at the New York Botanical Garden.

Ikenobo Professor Manabu Noda, a high-level instructor visiting from Kyoto, Japan, designed an awe-inspiring display of arrangements using flowers and branches to demonstrate how the language of Ikenobo Ikebana has evolved from its classical origins to the dynamic expressions of the modern era. Professor Noda presented the following Ikenobo styles: Flower for prayer, Rikka, Shoka, and Free Style. Several non-ikebana members of the audience were encouraged to add flowers to Professor Noda’s last arrangement, Free Style.

After the demonstration, all attendees were able to spend the remainder of the day in the gardens, at their leisure.
