Making miniatures and Mai Hana designs

For our first meeting of the year, we started a new tradition. One of our members will give a talk each meeting on the Flower Focus of the month. Our flower for September was the chrysanthemum, a flower originally from China and brought to Japan in 794. It is a favorite flower of the royal family. Sue gave us guidelines for making a miniature arrangement and then Bev walked us through making a Mai Hana style, using mostly a picture frame as the focus of the arrangement. Our membership and guests had a fun time practicing our new skills.

Our member Carol brought a selection of obis for us to buy.
